WS28xx/SK68xx RGB-LED

The WS28xx/SK68xx/PL982x/APA106 RGB-LEDs have a built-in driver with digital input (DIN) to set the color and brightness. The digital output (DOUT) can be used to connect the LEDs in series (DOUT->DIN).

WS… LEDs are from World-Semi and SK… are from Opsco-Optoelectronics.

Notes

  • SMT instructions/handling
  • Note, for protection connect a >= 300 ohm resistor between the LED data input and controller output pin.
  • SK681x LEDs: 3.5 to 5.5V power supply
  • WS281x LEDs: 3.7 to 5.3V power supply
  • WS2812B from version 4 and WS2812B-Mini from v2 upwards can be controlled with 3.3V levels (high level >=2.7V).
